The Collingwood BIA is a neighbourhood business improvement association from the city of Vancouver, Canada. The association is focused on developing and implementing a variety of business building and community enhancement programs from community events to street beautification, and safety programs to merchant promotions. Their programs are carried out under the leadership and guidance of a dedicated group of volunteers who make up the Collingwood BIA board of directors and staff.
Located at the crossroads of Vancouver and Burnaby, Collingwood village spans Kingsway from Boundary to Rupert. Walking along these colourful streets you’ll feel the charm of a village and the excitement of a bustling shopping district to explore! This gateway to Vancouver—once serving as the first street-car route in the City—now connects people and places in a friendly urban village.
How to update and modernize a branding strategy and design elements of a historical neighbourhood while keeping in mind the local appreciation for traditional design elements?
We developed an activation plan to list all marketing materials that would need to be updated by the Collingwood BIA and to provide ongoing activation support to enhance the company’s overall long-term vision.
We updated the BIA logo while keeping it’s three main elements: The red colour, the old style bicycle as well as the original ‘collingwood’ lettering.
We create three engaging street banners that match the overall long-term development vision for Collingwood’s neighbourhood.
The client loved the new logo and received great feedback from the local business community that was very happy with the new design elements. These local businesses also have been hearing very positive comments about the banners from their own clients.
